Programmes cover a wide range of topics from general politics and economics through to more specific themes such as congestion charging,law and order, climate change, human rights, organic food and inward investment.

 


Bilateral Programme Budget (BPB):

The BPB supports small scale projects that enhance the bilateral relationship between Botswana and the UK. In  2008/9 the fund will focus on promoting democracy, human rights, good governance, climate security and the fight against HIV/AIDS.

The Bilateral Budget Programme Budget also administers Sponsored Visits.

A sponsored visit is a visit to the UK by a foreign national that has been tailored to meet the specific objectives of the UK and the host country.
Visits to the UK can be planned for a range of experts and opinion formers from overseas. They include politicians, academics, business people, senior officials, trade unionists and journalists.

Programmes cover a wide range of topics from general politics and economics through to more specific themes such as congestion charging, law and order, climate change, human rights, organic food and inward investment. This financial year the High Commission has so far supported one visit.
Through this visit, the Clerk of the National Assembly of Botswana was attached to the House of Commons and the Scottish Parliament to benchmark best Parliamentary practices, procedures and processes.
